Cathie Watson is a retired Health Professional who is living her dream of owning and operating a Bed and Breakfast. Since breakfast has always been her favourite meal she loves trying new recipes with locally sourced ingredients for her guests. Over the past 6 years Cathie has developed some signature breakfast menus and no one leaves hungry (you can find many of our recipes under the "Stay With Us" tab and go to 'Our Amazing Breakfasts').
Originally coming to Dalhousie University as a student Cathie has lived in Nova Scotia for over thirty years; but has only lived in this beautiful St Margaret's Bay area and home since 2011.
A supporter of the local cultural community Cathie displays local artists' work on her B & B walls, hosts house concerts for singer/songwriters and writing workshops for aspiring authors.
Cathie and her family work at being environmentally and socially responsible: by composting, recycling, reusing, having solar collectors for domestic hot water, hanging the laundry on the line, catching the rain water and now experimenting with making laundry soap.
Sustainability is important too: home baked bread and granola are features, local, free-range eggs are served when available, locally roasted, organic, fair trade coffee (from Acadia Maple Products) is served, in season fruits, berries and vegetables are purchased from the market in Upper Tantallon and soap made with local natural ingredients (from SliceSoapWorks) is supplied for the guests' use.
